The case's front
I'm sure many of you will remember from old films the commonly used security measure for vaults and the like;bars protruding from alternating sides of the vault door which help to stop thieves from getting in. This is how I pictured the 'watersafe' effect on the front of the Aquasphere - water filled tubes alternating from the left and right sides of the case hiding the front when closed - I design the aluminium construction shown below to illustrate this:
I used 4mm pop rivets to hold this together; the front will weigh around 8.5kg when it's full of water so it needs to be well made!
The front's frame complete I mounted it on the main body of the case, some very expensive axial bearings were necessary for the front to make sure it slides along as smoothly as possible:
The first test here was to see how well the front slid into place and it worked very well! Of course the biggest test will be how well it works with the water tubes attached.
The next step was to add a motherboard tray to the case:
Nearly 100m of aluminium just in this little construction!
The motherboard and power supply mounted; an Asus P4C800E-Deluxe and a 520W BeQuiet. The sleeving wasn't easy to do, a friend of mine did it for me...
